The National Center for State Courts recently posted a Court Technology Bulletin on the benefits of using eCitation, referencing the Pratt, Kansas Police Department’s use of digiTICKET. They lead off the article with:
“Courts are greatly benefiting from the adoption of eCitation systems by law enforcement.”
The bulletin also references the COSCA/NACM Joint Technology Committee’s eCitation paper that provides references to various other sources denoting a range of benefits, including:
- Cost savings from reduced (or eliminated) data entry
- Fewer data errors and increased accuracy due to capture of information once at the point of entry
- Reduction of storage needed for paper citations
- Ease of access for judges and staff to citations for court processing
